  1. Keep in mind the USSR's goal was to take over all of Europe. And at the end of WWII they had a good chunk of Germany. To the average person, Fascism would have been far preferable to life under the Russians no matter what those orks were calling their regime.

  2. Hiroshima was chosen because it was a "virgin target" IE it hadn't been bombed, being not militarily important. And also it has a very distinctive Y-shaped river leading into harbor formation, that could be made out even under some cloud cover. It was known as a city of temples, and also as a city where a lot of refugees of other bombed-out cities had gone to. Other than the small-time cottage industry that was everywhere in Japan, the city didn't have much to do with the war effort.

Well, look at how Putin is giving his troops permission, even encouraging them, to rape and kill civilians in Ukraine and they are doing things like raping young children and even babies to death, looting everything not nailed down, etc. Old Ukrainians who lived through WWII are saying this is worse than back then.
