  1. This is why China will win, though. Family actually means something. In the US the minimum is done for the kids, their food never matters more than cigarettes etc for the parents, kids are constantly told by their parents that they can't wait until they're 18 and they'll be handed a suitcase with their clothes and told to get out... once you're 18 in the US you are really all on your own, to survive, or not. I have relatives for whom paying for my college would have been like a bar tip but not a penny for me, I had to borrow a lot of money and in the end didn't finish college and worked as a tech and paid the money back. US/Western culture just sucks out loud because of the pernicious individualism, dog-eat-dog etc and this is why the future is Asian.
