To send western tanks there is a clear sign of desperation. If it were even a bit rational, these tanks would be in Ukraine long ago. Take Challenger 2. It's virtually impossible to repair them in Ukraine and they are notoriously unreliable. They have rifle barrel unlike all other modern tanks, so they need specific shells. The most important thing is that Ukrainian professional army including elite Nazi units like Azov regiment suffered unsustainable losses and you can't do much with conscripts (most of them are really unwilling to fight for the regime).
