All five of the unit’s armored vehicles were destroyed within the first hour. We were shelled with mortars from three sides. We couldn’t do anything.” In the first 10 days of this long-awaited offensive Zelenskyy managed to waste dozens of tanks (including cutting-edge German Leopard 2A6s) and hundreds of armored vehicles (including Bradley) along with 7 500 of hapless Ukrainian conscripts on the mine fields, hit by Russian artillery or anti-tank missiles without even getting to the first main line of Russian defense. Adding insult to injury Russians captured Leopard 2A6 and Bradley. Ukrainian army has always been poorly led and marred by political interference and pervasive corruption, but now when it lost almost all experienced soldiers every Zelenskyy operation turns into a wholesale slaughter of Ukrainian conscripts like in Bakhmut.
