  7. Trump not in a position to force Putin to do anything. Putin stated his conditions for even starting negotiations on the basis of Istanbul quite clearly. 1. Full Ukrainian withdrawal from the regions that are included in Russian constitution; 2. Recognition and acceptance from Ukraine that these regions are Russian; 3. Acceptance of Ukraine's neutral status. Istanbul also included restrictions on Ukrainian army armaments and a number of personal. Russians categorically rejected any freeze of the conflict Korea-style. These conditions can get only tougher by the time. Even Trump wouldn't be able to accept these conditions explicitly without a coup attempt against him, but he could do it implicitly by cutting Ukraine's sustenance and turning the page.

Unconditional surrender is the only practical solution for Ukraine at this point. Development of multiple rocket launchers and artillery has never been a priority for US army.
