The equipment Ukraine gets from the West is often substandard or not fully suitable for this war. For example IFVs are replaced by lightly armored vehicles for anti guerrilla warfare. Regular heavy artillery systems are replaced by light M777 which is simply not designed to shoot hundreds of shells a day. Tanks are replaced by older models often in a very poor condition. Ukrainians has to compensate these problems by throwing more and more cannon fodder into a meat grinder which only hastens their final defeat.

To send western tanks there is a clear sign of desperation. If it were even a bit rational, these tanks would be in Ukraine long ago. Take Challenger 2. It's virtually impossible to repair them in Ukraine and they are notoriously unreliable. They have rifle barrel unlike all other modern tanks, so they need specific shells.
