  3. I served in Poland and I was on a training mission in Ukraine. Ukraine's economy is a basket case. Its manufacturing is ruined and it lost all its traditional markets. People are leaving in droves. Unlike Iraq It doesn't have rich oil or gas fields that could help to rebuild economy. All it has are pervasive corruption (it's one of the reasons why Biden crime family has "business ties" there) and incompetent, authoritarian regime. It's not an asset in its current pitiful state, but a liability. Putin is a rational, smart politician and he knows this as well as anybody. He will avoid occupation of this economically depressed territory at all costs. So this war hysteria is completely pointless and it's just an excuse to start a new Cold War with Russia. Zelenskyy managed to waste dozens of tanks (including cutting-edge German Leopard 2s) and hundreds of armored vehicles (including Bradley) along with thousands of hapless Ukrainian conscripts on the mine fields, hit by Russian artillery or anti-tank missiles without even getting to the first main line of Russian defense . Ukrainian army has always been poorly led and marred by political interference, but now when it lost almost all experienced soldiers every Zelenskyy operation turns into a wholesale slaughter of Ukrainian conscripts like in Bakhmut. Bakhmut was a slaughter which was entirely Zelenskyy folly as Stalingrad was entirely Hitler's folly . Zelenskyy just for media hype wasted on average 500 troops daily (total tally was at least 51 000 KIA) in Bakhmut meat grinder even when all escape routes came under Russian fire control and this debacle turned into a sheer slaughter of Ukrainian troops.

Zelenskyy is catching and forced conscripting people with zero motivation to die for him, who never served in the army, often disabled.   49. Yeah, Ukrainian troops in Pokrovsk area (Pokrovsk is a key logistical hub that Zelenskyy is about to lose) mostly consist of hapless cannon fodder kidnapped off the streets. They are totally disorganized and demoralized. Ukrainian command has no clue about the actual frontline and sends units to places already captured by Russians. The Economist and FT wrote about it. Part of the problem of Ukraine lies in the incompetence of the leadership, an officer of the engineering unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine told the Economist: "The General Staff simply does not control the process ā€” it does not have any plan." We see the result of a successful implementation of an attrition strategy by Russians.
