  22. It's not about Ukraine (with its ruined economy it's not an asset, but a liability). It's about Russia long-term security. Putin said that he didn’t need negotiations, he needed results. No more NATO expansion, no more NATO militarization of Eastern Europe, no more NATO attack systems in Eastern Europe, no more broken promises (not one inch eastwards etc.) He has a point, but US establishment doesn't understand language of reason and never keeps promises. The only thing that can bring US establishment to its senses is nuclear-tipped hypersonic missiles that can incinerate Washington DC in 5 minutes. US establishment (as a retired serviceman, I was part of it) is so corrupted by decades of crazy dollar printing, that it lost connection with reality (as if Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Yugoslavia debacles weren’t enough). Along with absolutely crazy domestic policies (the best example is that nobody really cares about curbing soaring inflation and ousting all Keynesian lunatics with their negative real interest rates from the Fed) this is driving America into the ground. American democracy with its checks and balances proved to be pretty brittle and was destroyed by bad money. Our country has plenty of banana republics on its periphery. Russians can easily organize a coup in any of these banana republics as Obama administration did in Ukraine. Then they will simply park their hypersonic Tzirkons in one of these. It will cost Russians far less than Ukraine costs to us. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones .

  31. Zelenskyy as usual left several hundreds of his wounded and frostbitten troops in encirclement in Soledar. He apparently learned nothing from Mariupol and other disasters. Inadequate erratic Zelenskyy continues to pursue his nutty tactic of constantly throwing poorly trained (most don't have any training whatsoever; lucky ones have 5-week training at best. So poor fellows are just half-baked cannon fodder) Ukrainian reserves into a meat grinder and holding on to disadvantageous positions until it's too late. Even Zelenskyy's ambassador in London had to admit: "We’re losing people left and right" and called Ukrainian losses simply "incomprehensible". Erratic Zelenskyy is the gift that keeps giving for the Russians. Ukraine already lost most trained and motivated soldiers along with almost all hardware it had before the war (to understand the scale of losses it had 1 990 tanks, 1 212 IFVs, 1 112 heavy artillery systems, 354 multiple rocket launchers). Its army is a shadow of its former self at the beginning of the war. Mass summary executions for attempted surrender or unauthorized retreat just cause further demoralization and despair. Bakhmut is just the last instance of this insane tactic. Russians have 1:6 advantage in artillery according to WaPo of all places. WSJ is quoting Ukrainian commander in Bakhmut as saying: ā€œSo far body count "exchange rateā€ is strongly in favor of the Russians . If we carry on like this, we will rapidly burn through all our conscription resources .ā€

  36. Russians aren't in a hurry. They have 1:6 advantage in artillery on this front according to WaPo of all places. 85 % of Ukrainian soldiers are killed even without seeing an enemy. Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake. It accounts for catastrophic increase in military casualties along with inadequate erratic Zelenskyy and his nutty tactic of constantly throwing poorly trained (most don't have any training whatsoever; lucky ones have 5-week training at best. So poor fellows are just half-baked cannon fodder) Ukrainian reserves into a meat grinder and holding on to disadvantageous positions until it's too late. Zelensky banned marking of soldiers’ graves with Ukrainian flags (many bodies are deliberately left where they perished without a burial, it helps Zelenskyy not to pay even a meagre compensation to the families of the "missed in action"). Endless forests of flags at cemeteries across Ukraine proved to be too scary and demoralizing for those still desperately trying to escape forced conscription and bribe their way out of Zelenskyy dictatorship. Mass summary executions for attempted surrender or unauthorized retreat just cause further demoralization and despair. Bakhmut is just the last instance of this insane tactic.
