  5. I am not saying that people now have it good, stuff is ridiculously expensive and it is impossible to buy homes and cars are nearly out of reach in price,. Used cars with 100k miles are the same price as new cars in the 2000s. Back in the day many guys went to the military before they joined the workforce because of the draft, so even if you're uneducated you have learned invaluable skills. A lot of people who grew up in the 50-60s were dirt poor in middle America, and the south. They did not have bathrooms inside or AC. Mininum wage was like 1.50-$2. You were working for nothing seemingly just like today unless you could get on at the local car plant or something that paid well. My mom has always told me about how poor everyone was. You have to think they were not far removed from the great depression.
