Nope! Democracies are any systems where the people have electoral control over the government. We live in a democracy, the specific form of democracy being democratic republicanism.

@valt36 now child, I know you can't handle your own cognitive dissonance and desire to rewrite actual history, but down is down, and up is up. Similarly, a republic is a word that describes a form of democratic governance. Don't know how you think you can deny that basic fact, but I'm not surprised, factual information doesn't appear to be that important to you. Republics are a form of democracies. Feel free to get mad, it isn't going to change anything. Article 4 section 4 describes a democracy. A republic form of government... Is a democracy. Not sure how you can debate with that. Cope.

@orasis I'm well aware that you despise democracies, but that doesn't make Republicans any less democratic in governance.

@orasis they, of course, are though. A set of differing opinion pieces using terms that don't correspond to their objective meanings doesn't change that. Nor are the federalist papers official parts of US governance. Republics are forms of democracies. Many of the founding fathers opposed direct democracy, just one type
