That can be swept under the table because it is mostly internal debt Btw Notice how when we talk about US debt we only talk about their 33 trillion in external sovereign debt? That’s because there is great pains to separate the two types of debt. Because they are different from each other But when it comes to China that internal debt is lumped in together with its external Sovereign debt Take away that internal debt , and China has very little external Sovereign debt If we were not so biased???? and were to do the same with the USA? Then you would need to include 3 trillion in local or State debt, 23.9 trillion in non financial corporate debt, the 26 trillion in SS liability, 40 trillion in Medicare liability, 211 trillion in unfunded liabilities…200 trillion in derivatives bets last I checked the TooBigTooFail investment banks had on their books they can only cover 5% of those bets if you sold off all their assets for top dollar

Because China hides behind that developing nation status Which allows it to get away with many things Take for example IP protection under the TRIPS agreement for developing nations

US multinationals who these days are using more and more illegal workers from SE Asia or more and more automation in their factories in China These are the same companies who also derive a large percentage of their revenues selling their goods and services to the Chinese consumers these days Same corporations whose stocks are listed on high flying US stocks exchanges and in your 401ks/company pensions Same corporations who trump gave huge corporate tax breaks to which you no doubt cheered on. Same corporations who passed on added tariff cost to the American consumer And the same corporations who at one time had 2.7 trillion in cash stashed overseas. Where the money they did bring back to the USA because of those tax incentives. Mostly went into more share buybacks or R&D to automate more American jobs away But let’s blame some migrant worker from SE Asia these days. When the HQ of that multinational is based in our North American cities. We could easily go picket if we really wanted to Instead of typing out our indignation on Gadgets imported from China

Trade war showed we are more dependent on China And they didn’t even bring out their biggest trade weapons You could try an experiment chuck away that gadget you are typing on Or the Pharmaceutical drugs in your medicine cabinet or at the Hospital Because the Chinese control the production of the precursor drugs that go into making your heart, cancer, diabetes , Alzheimer’s drugs etc etc etc
