I think it depends more on if ASEAN countries want that investment… For example the most the Chinese have ever invested into the USA was 46 billion in one year… when it should be 100s upon 100s of billions of dollars a year in FDI. I don’t see that changing anytime soon as the two countries decouple Problem you have with SE Asia is there is also ethnic tensions (who knows maybe there is some of that underlying tension with the USA) As the ethnic Chinese living in those countries are already a “market-dominant minority” in these countries.
