Like others have pointed out 30 million cars are sold in China every year Last year 8 million were Evs this year they are projected to sell 10 million EVs in China... but that still leaves 20 million ICE vehicles. Many of which are sold by legacy automakers from the EU and USA. Now imagine if the Chinese started to do the same with "just" these automakers (US multinationals based within China sold 392 billion worth of goods and services to the Chinese consumers in 2018 when Trump started his trade vvar. And the EU makes 500 billion in revenue a year from the sale of their goods and services to the Chinese consumers in their domestic markets) But we are lucky the Chinese don't think in zero-sum game ways like we do in the west Don't get me going on western multinationals who make the lions share of the profits exporting their goods from China to the west inflating those Chinese export numbers and those trade surpluses

Well BYD who is building factories in Mexico are not planning on selling those cars in the USA Which makes sense they already have brand and model recognition of Chinese EVs in Mexico... While the USA is hostile to Chinese EVs and investment

@davidrichards1741 I luv Singapore!!!! i have seen those numbers… best I can tell is they are a month by month snapshot Best way to tell is to look at how many EVs are sold in China at the end of 2024 And how many total cars are sold in China by the end of 2024 One things for sure China could easily just force its people to buy Chinese EVs. But it’s only incentivizing it’s people to do so right now

@warheadsnation well if you think about it 10 million cars is already 33% of total cars sold If it’s up to 40% that’s 12 million cars So it’s not that inconceivable extra 160 thousand EVs sold each month Where 2.5 million cars (in total) are sold each month in China Definitely would be a nice jump up I also saw 1 projection early at the start of the year, where they were predicting EV sales could hit 11 million vehicles for 2024 that would be 36.5% EVs but it was just 1 site giving those figures
