One obvious difference is that Ukraine has been invaded by a foreign state. Therefore all men of fighting age will fight just like in Afghanistan in ‘79. However Afghanistan has now fallen in to internal strife as a direct consequence of western intervention. When it’s internal strife, you don’t always know who the enemy is and sides are changed often. You may be reported to the Taliban due to a grudge with someone. It’s way more complex than Ukraine in that regard. Any man is potentially a target. Afghanistan is also infiltrated by ISIS too and this has further destabilised the country. Also, Ukrainians are given much safer passage to the west. I don’t know many women or children that could make that perilous journey from Afghanistan. When you think about it, it’s incredibly obvious why the women and children don’t come and why only a young, fit man could. If anything, the west has more more moral obligation to Afghanistan than it does to Ukraine. The Ukrainians are not in their position due to the west, the Afghans are. I also think the host is right, as many have pointed out before - there’s more sympathy for those that are more like you.

Although the military attacks make it crystal clear that attacking civilians was not the prime objective and that shifts the narrative that the public have been fed. And you are ultimately condemning the other side for doing about 1% of Isreal did (conservative estimate). So if you think Palestinians are humans and worthy of your concern, I would now expect a 99% greater condemnation of Isreal to reflect that fairly. If not, your concern has no merit and can only be taken to be just more propaganda.

I find it odd that you argue so hard for something you cannot clearly explain. Even your examples are circular and repetitive. Lammy said he was English because he was born in England. You think being English is about ethnicity. English is an umbrella term for a number of closely- related ethnicities, but scientifically speaking, there is no single English race. If the England football and cricket teams accept non-white players, a precedent is set as how can you represent England and not be English? Hence why Lammy was comfortable using it presumably. So it’s essentially a matter of semantics. I don’t agree with Lammy by the way, but I also cannot say he is categorically wrong under all the current definitions of that word. You see, what you are advocating is keeping sections of society separate on the basis of race, a philosophy which bears similarity to pre-civil rights US or apartheid South Africa. What’s ironic is that on the one hand you passionately claim that indigenous people have exclusive rights (Australia, US, etc). However wherever English people have settled, they have systematically and prolifically deprived the indigenous people of those very same rights in those very countries you keep citing.
