  1. The article as per usual was written poorly. The truth of this is far more nuanced and complicated than the BBC or the radio producer herself would be able to convey with any degree of simplicity and accuracy. The one bit of the article which made me laugh was the increased need for more blood suitable for sufferers of Sickle Cell Disease (which affects those from Africa or descendants thereof). The BBC puts this increase down to the SCD population just getting older, no mention whatsoever that we have imported more in the mean time.

  2. It's funny also how the BBC attributed this increase to the "fact" that it was just the population of sufferers living longer rather than any thought as to how we've just imported far more carriers.
