Indeed. Unlike many in America, every black person here, is here because they or their ancestors chose to be here.

@gumnut6922 exactly, this thing of saying that black people have been in Britain since the earliest of times is the basis for the fantasies drawn up, the vastly exaggerated claim that they were influential and had a "history" is one foundationed on very soft ground.

You would need to provide some historical and fact based proof on this. If you do take this on, please remain polite and constructive, dont be tempted to go down the name calling route.

@SwarthyEuropean saying it's in books is easy, you'll need to be a bit more specific, produce your counter points and provide evidence for them. In fairness to Simon he provides links and easily checkable arguments usually. The detractors of his videos usually just call him names and think that is enough to debunk him. It sadly isnt and I'm glad you arent going that way.

@SwarthyEuropean perhaps, yet you seem to be the one having a big issue with what he says here, you must have some good arguments against it to feel this way. I'd be interested in what you have to say we all might learn something new and the debate is enriched because of it. Please try to do this, I feel you have much to say!

And I wonder what version of Seacole she has been taught.

Play the ball not the man James! If you take issue with what he says provide your argument against these things rather than name calling.

@jameschesters3946 does he? You must be a new visitor here, sure occasionally he'll use wikipedia for points that no one routinely argues, but in the vast sense his links and recommendations for further reading are valid. You still need to counter his points though if you want to make a dent on his argument, as I said name calling won't be enough here.

@leeboss373 ask yourself though if life was any better for the average person in the 1500s than that of any slave. Perhaps better than a slave of the ottoman empire I suppose...those poor guys lost their balls for their masters.
