Let me tell you about racial equality in science. I work as a scientist in the "precious NHS" the section i work in has 47 employees. 36 are from a visible minority, a mix of Africans, Asian and middle east. Out of the whole lot of 47 there are 4 white men. It is a joyless mess of a place that borders on malpractice.

A Racial Inclusion head at the Cat Protection bunch you say?? Their first job MUST be to educate the new coloured pet owners that a cat is a cat and not a football.

@mrbubbles8743 hello mate, Yes, your last paragraph rings a chilling bell with me also.

The BBC chooses to produce this article and highlight it on their page. Is there absolutely zero journalistic integrity at that place anymore? Of course this article is joined many others over the last 10 years in the same vein.

I wonder if the current generations of Aboriginal people, Maori, or africans, etc etc would rather they were still scratching around in the dirt for grubs. Isnt that the main question? I always wonder about any statement in this regard with the question "as compared to what?"

@ianlowden6168 I'm a scientist not a primary school teacher 😀

The NHS is the same from my experience.

Sounds like your industry is crying out for a Racial Equity officer! Oh hold on maybe not.

Let's be fair here also and ask the reasons why he was turned down. Well sadly we don't see that reported on the BBC article. Perhaps there is huge competition for whatever funds are available. Considering the mindset the government has towards Research and Developmeny in this country I'd think those funds are quite paltry. So perhaps his peer reviewed ideas arent worthy of investment? Just one other explanation than "racism".

@KemetledAfrica this true, that's what you did. Its what the BBC did and its what our leaders do. Everything taken on the word of the perceived victim and the activist groups who must be assumed are speaking from a blameless and pure position. But yeah this is why when we are asked to look at race, white people are told to "look deeper". When we look "deeper" we can see that race is not the answer to all of these peoples complaints. It's far more complicated.

@RandomMatrix when did I say I was anything of any colour?

No no Sue, we must ensure that all Cats have the opportunity to be looked after by our different coloured cousins. You are looking at this the wrong way the equality is for the cats!
