  1. @La Sigh  those that feel their ancestors suffered so horribly are perfectly welcome to return to the lives their ancestors had in whatever area they came from. I'm sure support could be found to help them. I suspect the list applying to do so will be quite small however.

I'm Irish myself, came here 28 years ago, during that time I've "endured" plenty that could be considered "racist" these days, my general intelligence tells me that 90% of that was done in jest and for fun and i took it as such, the other 10% while more overt and a bit hurty I shrugged off. The reason why I shrugged it off? Because it is massively outweighed by the times that people in the UK have helped me, shown me kindness, supported me. I spent 23 of the years here in the Navy serving the country, married a lovely girl and have 2 sons that I bring up to be proud of this country. There are hurty words said to people and sometimes actions, but they are largely done by people that weren't worth your time in the first place. Grow a skin and be grateful for the ones that are worth it, emulate them, look to improve yourself not looking for excuses.
