It reminds me of those scenes where a large docile animal is bought low by a pack of hyenas, so tired it doesnt defend itself and allows itself to be eaten alive barely resisting as the pieces are ripped from its body. Parasites come to mind also, particularly stupid ones that havent the intelligence to realise that symbiosis would be a better outcome all round.
