Because this is a very recent example of forced acceptance of mass immigration into a modern homogenous culture, it will be interesting to see if a good deal of debate and resistance will build there. It appears that it is, the amount of people getting out and protesting directly is quite heartening. The injection of hundreds of thousands of waifs and strays into a small population so quickly has not gone unnoticed by ordinary people in Ireland, something which went largely unnoticed in countries like the UK for a very long time.
