This does seem to be the message with all of this and much else. A sense that somehow in the old days things were so good for men. The reality has been, that for the vast vast majority they lived hard lives, lives as hard as any slave and very low life expectancy.

Yes, the reality is that if the poop hits the wall, it'll fall to men to fight the wars, plough fields, work in tin mines, and all the rest. The sad reality again is that men STILL overwhelmingly do these things while women and minorities are elevated to positions of decision making over men.
