  1. I think it comes down to Competence, or at least perceived competence. People dont think that the local right or left wing single issue candidate is any better than the "torylabour" candidate in managing the country. I could be wrong.

  2. For what it's worth I think we are going to see imported demographics explode in the next few decades. One particular group is the muslims, I believe we will see a mainstream islamic party come up in the near future in this country, it will likely have a female leader and maybe even a few gays in it! But only for a while.
