I moved here 28 years ago, I made a conscious decision to integrate into British society rather than festering in the various community centres about old conflicts. Culturally there is little difference between Irish and British people so any integration I made was easy. I felt it very important to not fester on the past. In the end I spent 23 years in the armed forces in a good career and I'm very thankful for the opportunity. It saddened me a lot to see what Irelands politicians were saying during the Brexit years, I'm sure a lot of that was EU pressure and still happens to today.
