  3.  @sharper68  well the militia in this case was referring to the country defense. Now we have a standing army (all the more reason the individual needs to be armed) so it seems pretty well regulated

  5.  @sharper68  oh I see. You missed the point I was making. The point is, because a well regulated militia (ie the US military in this case) is necessary for the defense of the nation (because obviously we need to protect ourselves) the right of the individual to own a gun for defense AGAINST the milita. The individuals aren’t in the milita. They have the right to their own self defense

  6.  @sharper68  it’s protection against invasion by or foreign nation, our own government, and unwanted intruders. Bottom line, each person is responsible for their own safety
