Except that society hasn't been 'breaking down', it has been manipulated in every possible way that facilitates the paupering of the masses and the enrichment (thus control and consolidation) of the cabal of bankers, old and new mega rich and resource raping corporations. These are lawless psychopaths who basically hate the human race who often have the annoying habit of rebelling against oppression and now they have the power to chemically alter the literal minds of the cows they've been milking for centuries.
