America has never made families a priority or general quality of life especially for kids. It was always about money, resource profiteering, created consumerism and monopoly.... I mean who else would come up with the idea of 'subdivisions' with no place within walking distance to get a carton of milk, an ice cream or have a coffee with your neighbors??? One might almost think that was a 'plan' to make you buy more cars & gas, spend more at malls and to keep us divided so we won't be able to form a sense of community. 🤔 I was also brought up in small old gold rush town in Northern California , but oddly we mostly had sidewalks and crosswalks, because kids did and still do walk to school (or took the bus if they lived out of town)... at least mine did when we lived in town.
