Part of the problem with democracies is that the senates/parliaments often end up in deadlock and don't pass legislation that is needed. It is this perception that democracies don't get things done that is the issue. I think what will eventually happen is that we will reach a point where people begin to realize that authoritarianism doesn't work, and the pendulum will swing back to democracy.

The other thing he did was to alienate the bulk of the Russians who live in Ukraine as well. With the exception of the areas that were occupied in 2014, from what I have seen they are standing beside the Ukrainians in this war.
