  1. What makes Lithium such a problem for cosmologists is that it is incredibly difficult to produce using atomic fusion. In fact, if you look at the elements produced by stars, Hydrogen fuses to produce Helium, but then you need 3 Helium nuclei to produce Carbon. But this skips the logical step which is fusion to produce Lithium and Berylium. I am not a physicist, but the energy and interactions required to produce Lithium and Berylium lead to instability. This was such a problem that one of the scientists who worked this all out dropped atheism and became a Christian, because in his view this entire reaction and the fine-tuning of 9 physical constants was too improbably (in his opinion) to have happened just by chance.
