I will say that you are not totally correct about scientists ignoring or ridiculing ideas with scientific merit. One need only look at how the ideas of Alfred Wegener (Continental Drift), Harlen Bretz (discoverer of the Lake Missoula floods), Ignaz Semmelweiss (the doctor who brought us surgeons washing their hands before operations), and Gregor Mendel (genetics) were ignored or mocked, to name a few. I would also add that some myths are not wrong. The legend of the Thunderbird and the Whale on the West Coast of North America is likely a recollection of the 9.0 Richter earthquakes that occur every couple of centuries. The Klamath tribe in northern California have the legend of the god of the underworld Llao fighting the god of the heavens Skell (myth related to the formation of Crater Lake). The aboriginal legend of the great waterfall in Lake Huron, now confirmed by the discovery of the plunge pool. And of course, one cannot forget the Iliad and the discovery of Troy. So, please be careful with blanket statements.
However, having said all that, you are correct, the Electric Universe idea is a bunch of nonsense.
