My guess is that Q-Anon was a deep fake started by the Russians. After all, it has all the hallmarks of a KGB operation, and Putin is an ex-KGB spymaster. He hates the US for helping to bring about the collapse of communism in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. All they had to do was get the ball rolling, then sit back and watch the "fun" as other people picked it up and ran with it.
