It was a raid that was plagued by bad luck, between losing the lead navigator of one attack, being spotted by accident, running into a flak train, and turning at the wrong location for the final run-in to the target, the raid did (temporarily) accomplish its mission, and I do recall that one refinery was actually completely knocked out. Like the famous Dam Buster raid, it accomplished a fair bit, but the Germans were able to quickly repair the damage, rendering the results of the raid moot.
