  1. The Russians chose a bad time of year to invade, and they should have known better. Ukraine is in the middle of the Rasputitsa, when the ground turns to mud that will bury vehicles to their axles, or deeper. They are stuck on the paved roads, all of which lead to urban centres like a spider-web. They HAVE to take the cities, because that is the only way for them to open up paved roads for their tanks and other vehicles to travel any distance. It's one of the things that stopped the German blitzkrieg reaching Moscow in 1941. Obviously the Russian generals and Putin have brown stuff for brains, because they should know this. Had they waited until May or June, the ground would have been firm enough to give them complete mobility.

Considering that Putin is lashing out, firing 150 members of the FSB, arresting the admiral of the Black Seas Fleet, and possibly arresting other army officers, I can see there being a coup followed by a civil war. He is the second journalist from Russia that I have heard speaking about this possibility. The other journalist even spoke about Russia disintegrating. Since the Russian High Command is using troops from areas with ethnic minorities, if the truth about what is happening does get out, I suspect that Moscow will have hell to pay.
