@ingridlahaye8107 We don't charge near as much for imports as other countries do. Some countries charge 100% tariffs on their goods.

I think that's a great thing. Tariffs are better than sanctions. It's a bargaining chip rather than being something perceived as punishment. Sanctions are leading to the devaluing of our US dollar.

@Happydayz-2025 I suspect CA and MX will make more of an effort to control their borders so they don't have to pay high tariffs. They've done it before.

The reality is that we must deal with these other countries and their policies that are affecting us. I personally think tariffs are much more effective for leverage/bargaining than sanctions. It brings balance instead of punishment. All we're asking for is that these countries control their borders. It really shouldn't be an issue, IMO. Both our neighboring countries have the means to do this. If you don't want tariffs then don't let in a bunch of foreign people/substances and then allow them to flow through your border into the USA. 🤦‍♀🤷‍♀

@gloriouslifeonwheels3621 You're correct, but the tariff restrictions are the leverage when all else fails. Ideally, border patrol would have full authority to guard our land. That's not our reality at this moment. We're too busy guarding other country's borders and sending billions of dollars to them for their corrupt dealings. For now, our neighboring countries should feel the heat when they aren't doing anything to restrict illegal immigration. It's called the art of the deal for a reason. Lol.
