My tip would be that if you're considering using any of these options, make sure to have appropriate window coverings. I battled with that on my 12-day trip to Idaho and back when I went to pick up my rig. I was using sheer (but at least colored) sarongs as makeshift covers for the front side windows, and I had to use my blanket in the front windshield on my way out west because the windshield cover I had for the Suburban wouldn't fit in the small windshield of the rental SUV. Lol. The Suburban's back windows are very dark tint and the rental was full of my stuff in the back, so that part wasn't too bad. None of this was very private, however. I couldn't stay in truck stops and parking lots. Everything had to be paid camping (and a night in a motel) except for when I found public lands, and also Honey's Park in Arco, Idaho--which is a free private campground. So definitely plan your privacy curtains or whatever ahead of time. If you're in the same situation I found myself in, just make sure to take thicker fabric and a bunch of different clips and clamps so you can at least make faux window covers for whatever type of vehicle you might be driving.

Yeah, vans are easier in that they have exposed metal for magnet usage. I'm going to have to glue magnets onto the plastic pillars. That should be fun. Lol.
