@marklittler784 47 isn't old and harmless. A 47 year old grown up thief who breaks into your house in the middle of the night deserves to expect hell. In America he would have been shot for breaking in and no questions asked.

@Gecko.... If someone was trying my car outside my house I wouldn't be so friendly. No, you're wrong, it's the other way around, if you go around trying out my car door, it is YOU who is looking for trouble. Leave my things alone and get out. It's none of your business how I choose to react after you have attempted to rob me, butt your nose out and quit preaching.

@tove236 No, no such thing as proportional and proper when someone is breaking into your house or trying to mug you, I wonder how you would react if you were getting robbed.
7
@nicholasporter1417 Criminals who steal cars don't deserve much pity.
6
@ChrisPatrick-q6k It's not petty theft. It was robbery of an automobile.
3
@craig1257 He shouldn't have tried the car door handle, it's flat out wrong.
3
@MrFrinZy It would fly in America.
3
@mavericksmoneyclub22 If the thief had survived he should have also been taken to court.
2
@craig1257 Breaking into someone's private home gives the home owner the right to use self defense when someone is breaking in. If you broke into my house and I had a gun let's just say you would be shot on the spot.
2
@craig1257 He did say he was being robbed, you clearly didn't listen to what he had actually said.
2
@craig1257 Robbing someone of their vehicle is a form of robbery as that car is an extension of the owner.
2
@minusdagreez8817 You shouldn't be sentenced for exercising self defense, how insane. Leniency for an act of self defense is like giving a hungry man a lighter prison sentence for eating breadcrumbs off the floor.
2
@MrFrinZy Robbery may not bring in a death sentence in court but it will allow someone to kill them in self defense.
2
@Pull_a_Bharv So you wou!d rather your kids get killed by a mugger.
1
@AM1465 He wasn't murdered, he tried opening the man's front door and he tried breaking in the man's car, that in itself poses a threat.
1
@Hvanudetfornoget It's not the car that's the problem, it's the act of robbery and threat posed.
1
@SillyEngineer The police are useless and won't respond in time when someone tries breaking in, stop being stupid. In America the law is that if someone tries breaking in they are to be shot, nobody said anything about trying door handles. In Britain we ought to defend ourselves.
1
@negima1276 No, it doesn't. Robbery only needs to entail breaking and entering.
1
@mavericksmoneyclub22 If the the police are to arrest the man for stabbing the thief on suspicion then the thief should also be made to go on trial too.
1
@MCorrigan Can you prove he wasn't getting robbed?
1
@awfan221 An attempt at committing a crime requires the same physical act of prevention as it would if the person who was attempting to commit the crime had actually succeeded, which in some cases an act of violence might suffice as suitable prevention.
1
@craig1257 Educate yourself before you talk. Wrong, robbery means to break into where a person dwells by means of invasion in an attempt to take steal from someone. Breaking into a car is still using force even if it is not directly against the owner, as force is required in order to make a break in which still constitutes are robbery.
1
@craig1257 Just because I base my opinion on actual facts in order to verify the man's claims it doesn't automatically mean I am gullible. You are very stupid to literally think that I have based my entire assertion on just what the man had claimed and nowhere did I ever state this whatsoever. The man was actually being very honest despite your claims.
1
@craig1257 You've just lost the argument completely and are just trying to grasp hold onto what little you have left. I've read the law already, Britain has it wrong and America got it right in regards to self defense. The constitution in Britain allows self defense but the legislature tries to restrict it and outlaw it for the common man. This is why I honestly no longer bother with the Youtube comments section, as I see lots of bold claims based on ignorance that pretends anything opposing them is vastly false.
1
@craig1257 There is no such thing as criminals legislature, you are making it all up and are pulling it out of your arse. Crime is based on case law and the law of the land, which isn't based on statutes and limitations. Breaking into a property has always been a form of robbery AS WELL as burglary, it doesn't take a genius to figure it out. While Google may define breaking in as burglary, if you had bothered to check you would also find that it calls it robbery too.
1
@craig1257 Throwing around the word "confused" just makes you look even more desperate. If your self awareness is really this low then it is you who is confused.
1
@negima1276 He didn't say anything about cat door handles. You made that claim about cat door handles entirely up in order to minimise the severity of someone trying to break in. Shut up.
1
@scottmitchell4950 We aren't talking about stealing, dimwit. We were talking about robbery here. Go cry to your momma.
1
@wildnfree101 I can hardly blame him. I can't stand these Muslim immigrant criminals.
1
@Thecramps1982 It's not much of a murder if some worthless scumbag gets killed.
1
@theloniouswu5090 I don't blame him for inflicting pain as the crook definitely deserved it.
1
@boofuu3145 The left are hypocritical wimps. In Spain if some stole a car they would probably end up dead based on the things I've heard about things over there.
1
@craig1257 Killing someone isn't murder as long as it's lawful. You can't murder someone in self defense if that person has been killed. Killing a robber in self defense isn't murder, it's actually quite sensible. If someone broke in your house and you still think it's fine not to kill them then your an idiot.
1
@shari9721 You are making a claim that doesn't line up with anything that has been said by anyone, of course it was his car as well as his property, you are the only one claiming it wasn't.
