  1. the express were probably travelling at around 30-35 kph....which is the average speed for the express......drivers were probably sleeping or not paying attention. UK Intercity trains often travel at 200+ KPH, so the Indian trains were not travelling fast and could have slowed down and avoided much of the deaths.
