  1. I guess this is stating the obvious, but Europe's dependence on Russian oil and gas is a huge security risk. If "Europe" still meant western Europe it might not be so bad, but organizations like the EU and NATO cover most of the continent now, which means coming into Russia's old sphere of influence. And Germany shutting down nuclear reactors so they could import more natural gas from Russia is going backwards in every possible way. It increases carbon emissions and ties them more firmly to a nation that does not have Germany's best interests at heart.
