Wait, does this mean pumpernickel is the Devil's bread? Somehow I'm not surprised. It really is amazing that Gupta would try to pull off such a blatant fraud, as eventually someone would get the shipments and find out there's no nickel in them. But it's probably like you said, Gupta has a lot of money out there somewhere, but most of it isn't in his name. He probably thinks his operations are so complex and shadowy, no one will ever be able to pin him down in a court of law and make him pay back what he owes. Burning a business partner and further trashing his reputation is apparently less of a concern than the short term gains made from the fraud. A real criminal mindset.
