  1. Something else that I think relates to what you're saying (although I'm not quite sure how) is the speed at which discussion moves these days. In Martin Luther's day there was quite a bit of time to digest and discuss the pamphlets, because information couldn't travel any faster than a man on a horse. Radio, TV and newspapers eventually seemed to settle into a daily routine. You'd read the newspaper in the morning or watch "the nightly news" on TV, then have most of a day to think about and respond to it before the next day of news. Now on the Internet the cycles are ridiculously short. YouTube says you posted this video about ten hours ago, and there's already over 1400 comments. No doubt it's been shared on different kinds of social media, and everyone who matters has already seen it and formulated an opinion. Most of the views it's ever going to get have already happened, in less than half a day. That can't be good for society. Instead of absorbing information slowly, everything about the Internet and social media rewards us if we attack it immediately and tear it apart like a mob of monkeys on a breadfruit tree. It forces content creators to be as provocative as possible, and conditions the audience to think quickly and shallowly on any topic. There's no time for serious reflection, because you have to be ready to react at the same time as everyone else when the next new thing comes along.

  2. That's a smart and very well reasoned argument. All I can do is agree with you in every respect. This is indeed an overlap period, and apparently all those cargo ships burning bunker fuel were accidentally cloud seeding for decades. As you said, we need to do some more localized geoengineering experiments with less toxic materials. The best places to cool would seem to be the North and South Poles.
