My truth. Good grief! So the whole point of the episode was to show that Vela's "truth" is more important than the actual truth about her Mom, whatever that may be? And if her Dad doesn't believe her truth he's harming Velma somehow by letting her harm herself. Just let people believe whatever they want, don't hurt them by bringing up objective reality.
