@debbiesunlight7047 You realise that the 'spirit world' & 'demon possession' existed LONG before Catholicism even existed in every culture and virtually every civilization of the world, right?
In Asian, Japanese, Chinese, American Indian, Indian of India, Indonesian, Philippino, Australian Aboriginal, Nepalese, Slavic, Nordic, Viking, cultures, every African tribe, etc etc
Just because the Catholics also recognised this phenomenon does change the fact all through the ages and the peoples it has been identified.
Meanwhile, why pick on the Catholics for being patriarchal? Name me one culture/belief system in the world that wasn't.

@corinthbutler4859 I hear you. It seems we both agree that she knows she did wrong by letting the perpetrator into the home.
I think our difference is that you believe she is deflecting & creating unnecessary attention for herself, attempting to attract sympathy to herself and appear hysterical so she doesn't have to deal with it.
I believe she knew she was in the wrong by letting that mother into her home, but probably thought the restraining order was an overreaction, believing that harm was a potential only if the mother was left alone to become overwhelmed with caring for the child over a period of time, hours or days, without access to immediate help on demand eg. the aunt asleep in the next room. The harm the aunt would likely imagine is the building up of distress & frustration - none could possibly imagine in advance what this woman did to this baby.
The mother's lack of effect, her emotionless demeanor, could easily trick anyone into believing that nothing violent was going to happen. Considering the recent drastic changes in the mother's personality, the aunt knew her as different person, not someone who would such a horrific thing.
I believe her hysteria is a perfectly normal response. I'm sure there are many people in the world whose reaction would be much more dramatic, likely requiring medical treatment & psychiatric treatment for years to come.
