It is important to weigh matters carefully rather than acting out of passion - the Taliban and Isis do this, tearing down history, blinded to the bigger issues losing focus on the bigger picture. Your life impact will be yours to bear always, choose wisely.

  3. Monsoon Bloom Fair enough, but does this mean any group of people can act illegally and tear down and destroy anything they find offensive? Or should a lawful process be entered into to achieve a lawful outcome? Otherwise lets just all go for it and may the biggest, nastiest, strongest, brutish, bulliest, heavily armed win.

Too true, but what gives you or anybody else the right to decide what monuments stay or go or who's art in the Gallery must be smashed, or who's books must burned or who's Youtube Channel should be erased? What are your qualifications to decide for everyone else? Who gives you the right to destroy art in copper?

  6. That's what they're pushing hard for - civil unrest, anarchy, martial law, reasons to remove Trump and disarm US citizens. We need to stand tall, stand firm, keep our wits about, uphold the law by being lawful and help each other - this is War, and unfortunately we are on the side being provoked.

  7. OK. It's going to be a big event tearing down the White house too and all the other buildings as well. But I guess if we throw ourselves into this we will be able to eliminate any trace of slavery, and any other representation of anything we don't want to think about - we'll be able whitewash the whole picture! Then we can forget about any of the bad bits and eliminate any white guilt ... but there's always those damned human traits getting in the way.... we could eliminate all human monuments and put DC and Marvel superheroes and unicorns in their place - wow, I'm just loving all this tearing down and remodelling and pretending and stuff!

  8. I would also like to point out, kindly, that you may not realise how unintentionally racist you are being. You claim that 'black men, women and children have to walk pass statues, just so that these statues can DRIVE FEAR in people of colour anytime they pass them?' There are several issues here. Firstly, if you are not black, this is a case of cultural misappropriation. You cannot claim to know how black people feel when they walk past these statues. For all you know they may be relieved they are not slaves, reverent to their ancestors or anger, shame, .... who knows? You and I do not know and it is racist to appropriate your decision to their culture ....

By deciding that the 'poor needy, dears feel fear' places them lesser than you, the great white man who perceives and can meet the needs of the lesser-than who cannot do it without your handout and crutches that you have surgically implanted under his arms. Please bear with me, I am not intending insult. I just want to express another viewpoint. You may alo not realise that multitudes of white people have endured slavery or have endured horrendous poverty and hardships many Africans have evaded. You see it's not about black people and white people - it's about humanity. The minute we stop playing this race baiting game being flung on us, we see each other for who we are, not how we look. ... which is where you are coming from, I know. I just think the wrong way to go about it is being flung at us and in the end making us racist, the very opposite of what we want to be. All the best.
