Take a step back and ask yourself what is the market for this new toy? How many units Joby Aviation has to sell to become profitable? Do you really want to invest in this pipe dream? Do you have money to lose? The era of low interest money is long gone.

@PeterParker-wj3cr Electric vehicles are zero emission. Not necessarily, you must look at the source of electricity generation. If you charge your electric vehicle with coal power plants, which are the worst emitter of green house gas, NOx, particulate matters, you are the worst-case scenario of emissions. Elon Musk claims that the Tesla car in California are super green, because California produces a large amount of green electricity with solar and win power. If you charge your Tesla at night, like most Tesla owners, you are not green. Because solar and wind power do not work during the night! If you are charging your Tesla in California during the night, you are using electricity produces with coal power plant… Not green at all!

@tomyrobinson3196 Those VTOL have a much smaller range the typical Cessna recreational airplane. The Joby CEO is marketing its plane by saying you will be able to park you VTOL in your garage no need to go the an airfield. There will massive opposition from the citizens who will strongly oppose having an airplane near their home. The cities and towns have a powerful legal tool : the zoning by-laws.

Joby Aviation is a zombie company : a company that does not generate enough cash flow to service its liabilities. The era of near zero interest rate is gone. Unless Joby Aviation can find a saviour that is willing to invest hundreds of millions, Joby Aviation will not be able to pursue the development of its VTOL because it will run out of cash! A recession is coming, the venture capital tends to dry out in a recession. In 1903 the Wright brothers were able to develop their plane with the little money they made with their bicycle shop. But in 2023, you need several hundreds of millions to develop a new airplane.
