  53.  @helenberry9082  you were all beaten yes and what for ?. It was because what you were doing was considered wrong now let me ask you what was wrong about speaking Maori. So you say you get hit for stepping out of line so ill ask you again what was out of line about indigenoous people speaking their native language. Would you think its right to hit and beat the japanese out of the japanese kids in schools in japan or are maori speial inthat regard. About the police thing, was there or was there not a police force specifically created to target Maori the answer is yes look it up. Acting like like oh well i never seen it doesnt mean it wasnt happening around the country. I never said ALL i said YOU, In response to another individual i was talking to, where i said when you dont ask why these statistics show what they show your likely to say things like oh they just have a predsposition for it. So ill ask you that question, why do you think maori and other dark skinned minorities in colonized countries show up disproportionality in negative statistics aross the globe in colonized countries. You say you live with a kind heart but sit here and try to mitigate the long ongoing issues of colonization as if everyone was effected by it in the same way. Race will always be down the line for white people in colonized countries because your mother land culture and people arent percecuted like darker skinned minorities in colonized countries. You say focus on needs not race. Why dont you spend time looking into the ongoing effects of colonization on native people and see why needs are different between a ethnic group that has been faced with targeted systemic oppression and ethnic groups that havent. To give you perepective in every non colonised country people speak the native language. Again you dont need to focus on it because at the end of the day the english still have england the scottish still have scotland the irish still have ireland but the maori are loosing New Zealand in a sense that our culture language and people are still subject to persecution and erasure. Ignoring the last bit its unrelated and dont see how it contributes to the conversation.

  188. @andreatodd3095 Melding pot is more colonizer rhetoric you literally only hear this from pro colonizer talking points.Every nation has a mixture of cultures within them but only in colonized ones do you see the native cultures erased. you dont need to seperate on blood quantum thats weird purest ideology of needing to be some kind of pure blood like i cant believe thats an actual question. Yea notice how maori share similar statistics to other DARK skinned natives also we were restricted to reservations they just called them rural areas not reservations Maori were literally chased out of cities and settlements. We have representation for now but the process of removing that is happening as we speak just because it happened to native americans faster doesnt mean its not happening here. Our current government literally wants to remove New Zealands international indeginous protections so yeah try again. Maori do not have equal opportunity in education as long as english is compulsory by law and maori isnt this is why you need to stop listening to the same old conserevative colonizer rhetoric. Because that rhetoric does not give indegineous people the same rights to pratice cultural and economic structures as it does for white cultural and economic structures. Why cant japan be used here since its the perfect example of people only whining about indeginous languages and culture within colonized countries. No we do not have the same opportunities to learn both english and maori because english is compulsory by law and has been for 200 years. Lets also not forget that there is ALWAYS push back when colonizers see Maori language around the place why did the country just spend millions of dollars to have only english words and names in places if theres equal opportunity or both languages. Now your just talking nonsense you're ;iterally saying that the maori language is incomprehensible ?.The idea is absolutely rediculous if you havent figured out that the real reason everyone speaks english is because it was written into law by now then i am just goin to peg you as a racist beausee it seems like you are ignorant on purpose

  203.  @helenberry9082  seems like some of my replies are being censored so let me address everything in a more palletable way. One infantacide and abortion was not common place please dont spread romours as if they were this is no different than spreading romours that canibalism was common practice amongst maori when it wasnt. Two this is just more propaganda child abuse came with colonization, its written in the holy bible as an acceptable means of punishment which is why alot of schools partook in corporal punishment not just in NZ but in colonized countries world wide and these same people that thought corporal punishment was okay also taught maori this is how you discipline kids, The abuse of kids was not apart of traditional maori society pre colonization lets also not forget there was also English common law that allowed for men to be able to abuse there wives through corporal punishment the law was written somewhere in the in the 1700s but like what i stated earlier about the kids this also has existed for over a thousand years within the the holy bible as an acceptable means of punishment. How ever maori did not have such leniency for things if you comitted such acts you were kicked out of the community or given to the wifes family and they would settle the grievance there and then. Its still so funny and so racist that you think that child abuse is maori culture and isnt an issue with colonizers teaching that certain means of discipline are acceptable in society then forcing a group into a class that has the worse statistics of violence over all in every country and then say its just maori doin maori things. You are so prejudiced but you literaaly dont even see it. You see maori as violent and thats it you have never asked any questions as to whether or not its a problem with class or terrible practices taught by colonizers you just think maori hit kids because its what they do.

  208.  @helenberry9082  common in some iwi groups you mean two chiefs from two specifioc tribes it wasnt common practice even amongst the groups that had chiefs that did it this is more propaganda. As for the eating of childern our first primeininster wrote about his belief that this happened and he never seen it his entire time here because it was not common practice to canabalise people and even less so to do it to kids so stop pretending like it was please its so mis informed. Dude talk about rose tinted glasses the catholics were amongst the ones beating the maori out of kids. No the missionaries taught new types of agriculture and tried to convert maori to christianity. Again hitting kids was not normal for maori as for the well-documented instances those are post colonization. But hey if you have doumentation showing how common it was to abuse kids pre colonization please cite the source. Dude maori were not given the same opportunity as pakeha in the founding of the nation. You need to take your rose tinted glasses of oh we all got along and things were fine. We had the tohunga supression act which is literally a legislation to supress maori religion while christianity was being pushed there was also the New Zealand Settlements Act which allowed for the government to annex maori land, as long as they believed/said they were apart of the maori rebellion. There was also the burning of a church filled with old maori people and children by the government not beceause they were apart of a rebelion or combatants but simply because the governmnet said do it. Also during world war 2 maori land was annexed under the guise of it being borrowed and returned yet wasnt. There was also a police force created around the 60s to speifically target maori and arrest them if they were drinking past a certain time of day. I havent finished ill carry on into another post
