  2. I used to use that blue powder in India for my laundry. It's made from a blue bean, from the state of Bengal. There was a whole uprising in India, when the workers were pressed too hard by the occupying British to harvest the blue bean. Apparently that demand for cobalt blue has driven the course of history more than once. I found that even if I accidentally dyed my white shirts periwinkle, the hue faded back to white, after a few more washes.
