Technically speaking they are not a democratic party in they way we would see it. For one they are communists but we like to forget this fact and just describe them as Libertarian socialists which would make they fail under the umbrella of Anti-nationalism which is kind of ironic considering that this repressed and country-less group openly follow the ideology of nationalism. The US, Turkey and EU consider them freedom fighters in Syria but once they cross the Turkish boarder the US, Turkey & EU classify them all as terrorists. At the end of the day they are being used by coalition forces and once they are no longer needed they will be thrown under the bus.
