The Auto box was the best choice by far for off road on the Jimny, you would have been riding the clutch all day off road with the manual. Jimny needs a little lift and bigger better tyres and it could have done that crossing easily. Personally I love defenders but my only issue with the last models was it's engine choice, they really could have done better more reliable engine than the ford puma.The TD5's and 200/300tdi's where unstoppable.
