I think the most plausible reason thats been suggested is a movie prop. This is a national park and filming would require a paid licence, plus cutting into the rock bed would be prohibited which is maybe the reason no-one is coming forward. Am sure the fines for defacing a national park would range from very very large to prison time. As already said It has been there for four years, see goggle earth. Free speech means people are free to say anything they want no mater how outrageous that speech is, with out that explicit ability your own freedom will quickly be over.

If you lie then you can get sued for defamation and after that point your ability to speak on the topic in question can land you back in court. Why in the same week that member of congress talk about limiting dangerous conspiracy theories do you have Jones being plastered all over ever news channel with wildly inaccurate claims about what he has to pay. Like I said, say anything you want, if it's defamation pay the price but don't be foolish, this case will be used to limited your speech.   37.  @alan6  The solar minimum is due 2030-2050 and this is a irrefutable mathematical fact that is measured by the earths rotation around the sun and it's wobble, pretty straight forward to predict for a mathematician. Many scientists have come to the conclusion, via there equations, that this minimum will be whats know as a grand solar minimum and much more harsh than expected making the only viable grow zones for crops much close to the equator, think north Africa . Don't forget that the northern hemisphere only retreats from under ice for a window of approximately ten thousand years out of every hundred therefore the idea that we will not see snow again is crackpot rubbish.

  38.  @oldmanjenkins6519  You shouldn't be concern with what he pays in income tax, he is a billionaire so his income will be measured in investments and not via paying himself a wage, as it is highly doubtful he will even have a wage. His investments will be measured in capital gains tax which is 20% and if you think the IRS let him off that or he can get around a large percentage of that then you are very wrong, as long as he has made profit he will be paying capital gains tax at 20% of that profit. Notice how this hasn't been pointed out.
