  2. Maybe not the most appetizing but the best, and often cheapest, prep food to buy is a 16kg bag of white rice, it's been shown to last over 30 years, some dried herbs and spices and dried beans. Even better if you have a multi fuel stove as electric can go out and you are still eating. The rice and beans won't cost much and you can disregard the best buy dates they last decades as long as stored correctly plus rice and beans are a complete protein.
