  1. The first of these alerts I received was roughly 10 years ago in texas, and like Lewis' experience it was an 'Amber Alert' about an abducted child. Since then I've received them for severe weather, tornadoes, heavy hail (2-5cm stones!), and the COVID mask mandate. The hail message was quite ominous as it stated animals outdoors and livestock WILL be hurt in no uncertain terms.
