  1. Entertainment is good but what does it matter in the long run? How should people come to understand the world and cope with all of the other people in it? What is happening to the economies of Russia, China and the US? Of course they will affect the rest of the world. The Dispossessed (1974) reflects the capitalist/communist dichotomy but does not provide a resolution. Voyage from Yesteryear (1982) by James P Hogan is not as well written but I suspect Hogan knew more about technology and economics. Le Guin's book was published just before microcomputers appeared and Hogan's shortly after. But Hogan was in the computer/electronics business and had an idea what was coming. Listening to American politicians talking about China and RISC-V is hilarious.
